Ouch. Thinking is painful. 2003-11-25 - 12:01 p.m.
Evil Dr. Band Director quote of the day: "You can't sight read for shit."
Here's another stupid band piece- "Chester" (William Schuman). Stupid. So the current list of stupid overrated music geek music that everyone else likes that yours truly doesn't is this:
-Chester
-anything by Grainger
-anything Mahler (please gag me with a spork)
-95% of anything by Brahms (the Haydn Variations might be okay)
I'm sure there's more. Hahahaha.
Flute Student #3 (the sullen one) forgot her music at her lesson last night. I should have refused to teach her or something- her father did pay me in advance and all. ;) Instead I gave her the scale exercise a la Mangofarmer (and/or the scale exercise a la Mangofarmer's high school marching band). She seemed a little incredulous at the thought of playing a G scale ("F sharp?! Ooooooh!") but she did pretty well, most likely due to my mad teaching skillz. HA. HA. HA.
Anyway. Don't you remember when all I talked about here was selling shoes at Sizz-ears? Wasn't life much simpler then? Poor anonymous guestbook guy and his troubles spelling ethnomusicowhateverology. Yes. But being broke whilst getting increasingly and uselessly overeducated is good right? :)
So. Has the descent into music geekhood been completed when one finally realizes that, albeit simple and financially stable, life before music geekhood was no life at all?
Hmmmm.
Alright, all this thinking is starting to make my brain hurt. Happy Tuesday (Thursday) everyone! :)
