Song of the moment: Schumann - Carnaval, Op. 9
I think maybe I chose my "what do I want to be when I grow up" because of my dad.
He loves classical music. He's the reason why, when I was small, we'd sit on the couch during a thunderstorm, turn all the lights off, and listen to records of Mozart or Beethoven. My favorite of course was the Beethoven 5. His is the Beethoven 9.
I want to do that when I grow up. I want to be in an orchestra and play Beethoven. I realize my chances of achieving this dream with a legitimate, well-known orchestra are slim- there are simply too many flute players in the world.
(And it pains me soooooo much to say that.)
But I don't care if all I can get with a masters in music performance is a position in the South Central Shitburg chamber orchestra and a day job at (insert retail establishment here) for the rest of my life. By Jove, I will do it! I will convince the director in South Central Shitburg to bring in the combined choirs of every religious establishment in the South Central Shitburg area to sing in the fourth movement. I will buy the entire set of orchestral parts if I have to!
