Mildly happy mangofarmer, for once! 2004-07-06 - 10:20 p.m.
Oh man, what a lovely day.
-The sister and I went to see Spidey 2. My favorite part (like dfirefly already noted) was the Jesus!Spidey scene.
"He's just a kid!"
*tear*
Gooooood times. I loves me some Tobey Maguire. I also love James Franco and Alfred Molina. All in all, I couldn't decide if the movie was really silly or really good. I think maybe both, even with the appearance of Uncle Ben Kenobi. Hehe.
-Then we went to Mickey D's (I know, we're going to hell) and discussed John Edwards. He's no Howard Dean, of course. In fact, in the primaries I felt no strong feelings towards him one way or another. *shrug* He seems like a decent guy I suppose, and balances out Kerry well.
-Then we went to the nature trail, thusly walking off the evil Mickey D's. This random cat kept following us. Duck, turtle, rabbit, chipmunk, lost dog, maybe. But what is a random cat doing on the nature trail? I dunno. It was quite nice though.
-The sister is going back to Hickville this weekend, so apparently we are going to Baltimore to deposit her with the mother. Apparently my dad wants to see the Aquarium. Oooookay.
-My dad, who was in rare form at dinner, spoke of everything from his enlisting in the army right before being drafted (he went off to college anyway), to how he probably met a visiting John Kerry in a bar when he was at school. Also - his recent trip to Padre Island (while he was in Texas) and how he didn't swim because the beach was littered with beer cans and he doesn't like swimming anyway, because he just likes to go to the beach to walk or sit like the time we went to Tybee Island in Georgia. There was also a mention of the Paul Bunyan statue in Bangor, Maine.
When he isn't too too drunk and he actually talks, sometimes my dad can be quite interesting. :-D
Overall, it was a lovely day. I feel like less of a psychotic maniac, which is always good (sorry, anonymouscommenterguy). Bridget Jones 2 is good so far. I wonder how the movie will handle her interview with Colin Firth, when Colin Firth plays her boyfriend anyway! Mmmm, Colin Firth.
I think I'm going to go practice the damn flute now.... Have a lovely evening everyone. :)
