Weekend Update
2003-12-28 - 12:42 a.m.

Well. Back in Hickville, after brief sojourn to Aunt's House with all the relatives. And all the stories of their ailments, and what they've eaten on that given day, and what ails everyone else and what everyone else has eaten on a given day...

Yeah. *another obligatory gifts received list because that's what's Christmas is all about, is it not?* I got a bracelet with shoes on it (what are they trying to say?), a nice blue sweater, a scary initialed turtleneck that didn't fit over my stupid head, a matching "S" purse (Why in the name of Ganesha do people keep giving me purses?), a set of bowls (very good), a water filter (even better), a scary cat calendar (like Sarah Lynn, I like cats, but there is an easily crossed line), and $50 (I can possibly pay my phone bill now, yay). Whoopty doo. Christmas is just another day, really. Except one about giving and getting stuff. Christmas is about stuff. I get tired of stuff sometimes.

My aunt is actually doing very well- she is the one that had the mammoth brain surgery last January- I'd go link it but I am way too lazy. She is quite skinny now though. The relatives also said I look a lot thinner too, which is somewhat nice. I should write a book entitled "The Poor Graduate Student Diet". I would make millions, and stock prices for ramen noodle companies would go through the roof. I am a genius. :)

My sister and I managed to sneak away from the horde of relatives for a while and have a good long chat whilst sitting on the swing and watching birds in the backyard. I'm not entirely sure how we got to it, but we decided to come up with an entirely new cast for the LotR movies. She says I can't post it- she has to. I will say this- it most definitely involves Rodney Dangerfield as Gandalf and Bob Marley as the Ent Who Looks Like Bob Marley (we are going to have to resurrect a few people from the dead for this movie). Hehe. Great dorkish minds think alike.

Anyway, on the way back from Aunt's House, we stopped in Gradschoolville, mostly to get my mail. I got a long letter from my Australian pen pal. She actually invited me to her wedding next year. That's kinda funny. She said maybe I'd win the lottery. ;)

In other news, I am not in Craptown. HA. But, besides my books and my cat, I don't think anyone/anything really misses me there. I have accepted this. And that's fine. My sister is cooler than 99.9% of the people there anyway. :)
