(a cell phone rings)

Dr. Band Director: "Turn that fucking thing off!"

(an oboe player reaches for the offending device and tries to turn it off)

Dr. Band Director (looking violent and gesturing for the phone): "Here, I'll turn it off!"

(the oboe player succeeds)

A Flute Player (the cell phone's owner): "Dr. Band Director, I will kick your ass!"

Dr. Band Director: (laughs)

The insanity never, ever, ends.

I'm tired. I should go to a cello recital tonight but I really don't feel like it. That's about it.

It's Tuesday. I need a drink.
