"Cast my memory back there Lord.."
2002-09-08 - 3:10 p.m.

Blissful, wonderful KaZaA. To be able to listen to "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" on a continuous loop... Hehe, no I do have a few more songs on there. I'm very very proud of myself for listening to some actual new stuff (you see, my taste in popular music hasn't changed much since freshman year of high school, in that I still listen to the same stuff I did then). I believe my 15 year old sister has called me a "dork" and an "old fogey" on many occasions for this. For many years I thought it was the coolest thing to listen to this popular morning radio show. Even when I saw the hosts on TV and decided I realized why they went into radio...

But there came a point when I couldn't stand the actual music they played. I mean, these two adults playing a never-ending stream of Britney and N'Sync clones? It just really started to bother me. That's when I stopped listening to the show, and stopped paying attention to current popular music. No matter how hard my sister would try and entreat me to watch TRL.

Anyway, I downloaded a few Dashboard Confessional songs and they're kind of nice. I'm thinking of easing myself back into popular music. Slowly. But there will never be anything that comes close to the Beatles. And you can't tell me that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" isn't still the anthem of my generation. Even my sister likes Nirvana. I told her she can come with me to Seattle on my quest to bring back grunge. Even if her suggestion for the name of our band is Kurt Cobain's Mangled Body... Oh boy...

I don't know what it is about the song "Brown Eyed Girl" though. It makes me so happy, but yet, more than a little sad at the same time. I guess it's my big brown cow eyes talking, but why don't I have anyone to sing it to me?

*sigh*

Sorry for the music lecture and the general geekiness. But unfortunately with me, some things are a given. ;) I actually caught myself purchasing another Glamour magazine yesterday. Hey, I needed a laugh. I missed the game last night and I'm missing my favorite produce-related festival this afternoon (you name a vegetable, there is probably a corresponding celebration around here). Ugh.

Anyone out there? Here's a geek with big brown eyes that would commit highway, well no, side street robbery (less traffic = less chance of being caught after said crime is committed)for a blooming onion! Hello?
